220th Igbo Landing Commemoration

Over the Memorial Day weekend, community members gathered in St. Simons Island to learn about the 1803 Igbo Landing legend. A symposium, performances, and site visits occurred over the two day event. GGFP served as the Publicity & Logistics Coordinator for the commemoration. The international event was viewed and attended by Igbo and Gullah Geechee descendants. As the Associate Director of the Morehouse College Movement, Memory, & Justice project, Tendaji Bailey arranged for their interns to serve as volunteers, assisting with the logistics of the commemoration.
