Campbell-Wright Internship

The Campbell-Wright HBCU Gullah Geechee Internship Program offers HBCU students immersive, paid summer experiences in cultural preservation, historical interpretation, and storytelling within the Gullah Geechee Corridor. Interns collaborate with community leaders and cultural organizations to protect and celebrate Gullah Geechee heritage through hands-on projects and professional development opportunities.

Current Projects

De Lil Fish Project

Atkins Live Bait & Live Oysters will serve as an arts and educational center where community members can engage in learning about traditional Gullah Geechee maritime practices and aquacultural methods. The farm, a founding member of the Gullah/Geechee Fishing Association (GGFA), is crucial in preserving maritime traditions.

We Were Fridays

We Were Fridays will be Jeffrey Zeigler’s fifth solo album, an exploration of a deeply personal family history following the Griot tradition of West Africa and traveling to South Carolina by way of the Trans-Atlantic slave trade. The VIA:LAB Fellows are visionary artist-scholars, arts researchers or creative producers who will serve as key through lines and thought leaders across each Impact Lab project - leading the research + development process and serving as core members of the project/artist producing team.
